Synopsis
The revolt of a lone, implacable male against a woman-dominated society of 2071. Dion Quern: sensitive, independent, and intellectually affluent, is an anachronism in a world consisting of five enslaved men for every twelve superwomen.
As an apparently irreversible effect of birth control, the men have been so outnumbered by a new breed of women significantly superior in several formerly masculine strongholds, notably politics and the sciences. Marriage has fallen apart; female prostitution has vanished, gigolo-ism has grown. Women are numerically, physically, and psychologically unassailable. Men are mere chattels.
Born into this matriarchal society, Dion, the rebellious last of the troubadours, thumbs his nose at a world without love, and resolves to change the rules!
