Robert Siegel won the Golden Archer Award and the Matson Award for the book Whalesong,/i> and has twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize for Poetry. He is professor of English and director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.
The fortuitous partnership of Listening Library and Chinaberry Books, a distinguished source for children's books, has produced a hit with this environmental tale of a humpback whale. Don't think that the life of a whale doesn't have plenty of adventure; the dramatic climax of the story will keep listeners 10 to 50 enthralled. Author Robert Siegel, also known for his poetry, offers a fluid narrative that sparkles with imagery. Don West, a new voice to audiobooks, is a natural. His versatility is evident, and in the hands (voice, really) of a less-skilled narrator the story could easily have lost its vitality. West is resonant, smooth and careful with pacing and tone. This audio deserves a broad listening audience. R.F.W. An AUDIOFILE Earphones Award winner (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
