When Peter is given the chance to fill in for a vacationing DJ, Joey, who has been trying to convince shy Peter that she's the love of his life, feels it's an opportunity of a lifetime. She will prove herself indispensable to Peter and be discovered by talent scouts. But it is not to be. Another girl and an old singing cowboy enter the picture; Joey's comedy routines are cut, and she loses Peter to Dinah. In the end, Joey and Peter reach out to each other and begin to make up for lost time. Strictly for Laughs is that old story: girl desires boy, boy unaware of girl's passion yearns for another, with the added fillip of radio show talk.
