Memories of that kiss they'd shared all those months flooded his mind. That small taste he'd had still lingered on his lips--and she didn't belong to his best friend. That was all he cared about. He'd wanted to gorge on her and couldn't. Or so he had thought.

The moonlight splashed across her face, and Kane saw the dark stain on her mouth, and the gleaming white of her incisors. As he watched, she shuddered, spinning away. "Get away from me, Kane," she rasped.

A slow smile curved up his lips. "Why?"

She tossed him a cool glance. "I haven't fed. You look entirely too appetizing. Now go away."

"Appetizing, huh?" he mused, reaching up and stroking his chin. Studying her closely, he let the wide grin spread across his face. "I do have to admit, you look pretty delicious yourself."

Kendall's response was that sexy little sneer he found so enticing. "You seem to forget--when I say appetizing, I actually mean eating," she drawled. Her eyes dropped to his neck and he was suddenly never so aware of the pulse of blood running through his veins.

Kane ran his eyes down the sleek lines of her body, imagining what she looked like without that skin hugging top, the painted on jeans. His eyes lingered low on her body--he heard her sharp uptake of breath. Softly, he whispered, "So did I--of course, I'm focusing on a different part of the anatomy."

After bounty hunter Kane Winter witnesses the murder of his partner, Duke, during a botched drug deal, one of the only things he remembers is a beautiful, enigmatic woman who haunts his dreams. Turns out that woman is Kendall, a vampire and a Hunter for a supernatural cadre of vigilantes who protect humanity from the Hunters' "evil" counterparts. When Kane begins a quest to find Duke's killers, he discovers a knack for sniffing out and killing vampires, bringing him back in contact with Kendall. Together, they begin taking out bad guys and making frenzied vamp-hunter love, both of which grow tiresome, leading to a conclusion predictable to everyone except the characters involved. (July)

The low sensual beat pulsed across the floor as people danced, wrapped around each other so that their bodies became just one entwined shadow.

Kendall could feel the excited throb of his pulse, hear it as she shimmied a little closer and wrapped her arms around his neck. His hands shifted from her sides to a little lower, one resting dangerously close to her butt. Against her belly, she felt his sex stir and she had to fight to keep the female interest on her face.

Not that she wasn’t excited. She was plenty excited, the heat of the chase on her, ready to culminate. All she had to do was finish him.
