About the Author:

William "Wild Bill" Guarnere and Edward "Babe" Heffron were both portrayed in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Guarnere, a tough street kid, and Heffron, a thoughtful and introspective boy, both from South Philly, went on to become brothers in battle and best of friends.

Robyn Post has been a professional journalist for 13 years and profiled the two men for Philadelphia Magazine.

This work is a memoir of two men who were, and still are, from South Philly. Guarnere and Heffron did not know each other until they were posted to E ("Easy") Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Both men tell the story of their lives before, during, and after WWII.
