About the Author:
Merline Lovelace spent twenty-three years in the United States Air Force, serving tours of duty in Vietnam, the Pentagon, and as commander of Eglin Air Force Base. She graduated magna cum laude from Ripon College and has attended Middlebury College and Princeton, Troy State, and Harvard universities. Merline Lovelace lives in Oklahoma City with her husband, who is also a retired Air Force colonel.
From Booklist:
Veteran author Lovelace returns with the second installment of her Samantha Spade series (following All the Wrong Moves, 2009). As a retired air force colonel, Lovelace writes about what she knows. Samanatha is a lieutenant in the air force, the head of a squad that tests new military gadgets. This time Samantha and her eccentric team are assessing some nifty new goggles that can see around corners. Samantha decides to try them out in town before the official experiments in the desert near Fort Bliss. Fortuitously, the goggles help Samantha save MP Diana Roth from assassination. What follows is pretty much nonstop action as Samantha and boyfriend Jeff Mitchell, a border patrol agent, try to unravel a dangerous conspiracy. Readers should love the developing characters, the action, and, especially, the far-out, cutting-edge scientific gadgets. An agreeable if unconventional mix of cozy elements and mainstream thriller fare. --Judy Coon
