The multi-automobile accident was mild, com-pared to the events it led to in a small French town. Despite the numbers of vehicles smashed up, no one was injured. The Dauphine, most seriously damaged, was purchased by an ex-racing-driver-garage-owner, for junk. He planned to rebuild it for his young assistant whose ambition was to enter the great races, but didn't have the money for a car. From the time the garage owner bought the wreck, strange things happened. The owner was attacked, the garage broken into, and after all the months of work rebuilding the racer, it was stolen. Robert, the amateur racing driver, entered his first Rally, helped by his friend who acted as his navigator. It was in three parts, and chances of even placing in their first race were remote. During the first Rally, stranger things happened, and there are two fantastic scenes in a rainy forest with two young boys battling against a determined gang of older men. Hold on to everything you can grab while you read this thrilling racing-car mystery.
