Anthony Powell was born in 1905. He served in the army during World War II. He is the author of seven other novels, and four volumes of memoirs, To Keep the Ball Rolling.

Original Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Broom-Lynne, James (illustrator). Third Impression. Given as the third impression from 1974 of this novel first published in 1960. Boards have small dents to the bottom edges and slight rubbing at the edges. The lettering on the spine is very bright. Slight edge browning to the pages with a few brown marks to the fore edges and one faint stain to the top edges. Previous owner's name in pen to the front free endpaper but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. Jacket has quite heavy fading to the spine which has light chipping at the top.
