Private - Keep Out! should rank alongside Just William as an indispensible part of the children's canon. Alas, and for no better reason than I can discern than the vagaries of chance and/or the misalignment of planets on publication, it has so far failed to find to find its rightful place. So let me state for the record: the public has been deprived of one (or three if you count the sequals, which I would) of the funniest children's books ever written... Wonderful, wonderful book. Give it for Christmas to any deserving child or adult you would like to keep laughing for the next 20 years. Guardian
