From School Library Journal:
Grade 3-8-At first glance, one might be turned off by the text-heavy format, the two-color print (blue and teal), and the sheer density of this presentation. But those who take the time for a closer examination will discover a wealth of fun and exploration within. The short, easy-to-do experiments and activities are arranged by topic, and separate chapters are devoted to inspirations from the toy store, the supermarket, the drugstore, the hardware store, and the stationery store. Life sciences, chemistry and earth science, physical science, and technology are all addressed. Materials for each experiment are listed in order of use and "Observations & Suggestions" spell out experiment results as well as other related activities. Safety precautions are provided throughout the text. An unobtrusive scale next to each experiment records the challenge level as either low, middle, or high. There are subject, discipline, and challenge indexes. This title is useful for science buffs, science-fair projects, and for teachers looking for ways to put more zest into their lessons.
