Gr 3-5-Using the screenplay and stills from the IMAX film of the same name, the author has constructed a book to appeal to dinophiles. The hologram on the cover may snare an audience as well. However, this transition from the hot medium of film to the cool medium of print is tepid at best. Readers follow Ally Hayden, 16, as she travels back in time in the natural history museum where her paleontologist father works. On her journey, she discovers the nesting habits of T. rex females (which, incidentally, is the topic of a paper she had just written for school). A disclaimer appended to the glossary says it all: "The events and characters contained in this story are fictional and do not reflect current scientific findings." (And CIP actually classifies the book as 567.9.) Fictional, indeed, and fodder for the remainder table.-Patricia Manning, formerly at Eastchester Public Library, NY
