In this second Unlikely Exploit, Fergal McNally's brain--last seen in a pickling jar in the basement of Sacred Heart Hospital--is stolen, and the remaining McNally children find themselves mysteriously drawn to Fishbone Forest and the forgotten crumbling mansion that lies at its heart. There they meet the terrifying, teddy-bear-clutching Mr. Maggs, who has a fondness for riddles and is making big plans to change the world...which all sounds rather unlikely, doesn't it?

About the Author
Over six and a half feet tall, with a bushy beard, Philip Ardagh is not only very big but also very hairy. When not writing silly books, Mr. Ardagh is quite serious and frowns a great deal. He lives in a seaside town somewhere in England with his wife, and their son, Fred.

Joe Barrett brings to life this Second Unlikely Exploit of the McNally siblings. Barrett's even pacing easily carries the listener along as the McNally children attempt to recover Fergal McNally's pickled brain. Tension builds in Barrett's voice as the children venture into the forbidden Fishbone Forest, encountering several eccentric characters. But don't dismay, Barrett brings a smile to the listen with the humor and new vocabulary sprinkled throughout the story. The plot device of the split story is abrupt in audio but is smoothed as much as possible by Barrett's tone and natural pauses. Even Barrett's unidentifiable accent helps convey the odd happenings in the unidentified country of the McNally children.
