Anne Mazer grew up in a family of writers in upstate New York. Intending to be an artist, she studied at the School of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University. She then went to Paris for three years, where she studied French and French literature and where she began to write. She is the author of over thirty-five books, including the picture books THE SALAMANDER ROOM and THE NO-NOTHINGS AND THEIR BABY, as well as several novels. After working briefly as a graphic designer and animator, Bill Brown turned to freelance illustration in 1997. Since then, he has been published in several magazines as well as doing book illustrations.
