In The Awakened Mind, British biophysicist and consciousness researcher Maxwell Cade shows how biofeedback is made many times more effective by combining it with meditation - the ancient art of listening to the soul. Using his own Mind Mirror machine, a revolutionary advance in the precise monitoring of mind-body control, the author explains the relevant exercises, skills and sensory sequences involved in this extraordinary technique. As a result, new possibilities for relaxation, health and awareness become available, as well as a dramatic increase in both mental and creative potential. Biofeedback is the science of listening to the body, understanding its messages, and using the mind to control it.

C. Maxwell Cade was a British government physicist who revolutionized radar and extended his understanding of light and sound into the field of mind research. A master hypnotist, Zen meditation master and co-founder of the British Society for Psychical Research, the metaphysically-inclined Cade recognized that all things including the brain and body are composed of the frequencies of light. With the help of electronics engineer Geoffrey Blundell (see his book, The Meaning of EEG), Cade invented a unique, composite frequency analyzer, the Mind Mirror, that enabled him to explore and map consciousness. Cade guided some 4,000 people into deep-state meditation while they were hooked up to the Mind Mirror and taught people to alter their states of consciousness, a means of awakening the mind to higher states of awareness. His seminal book is the foundation of mind research throughout the world, and his techniques are still practiced by his successors. ...the most definitive work on biofeedback yet to be published... --Human Potential Resources
Maxwell Cade is an excellent author. His book was easy to read, as a matter of fact, I ate it up. The ideas and implications of this book are enormous, but even more importantly, they are practical. This book is well documented and based on fact, not theology or philosophy. There are no irritating references to mystical things beyond understanding but instead a straight forward approach to a new way of research and self improvement. --Jason Ard
This rare book is a fundamental read for anyone interested in the brain, meditation and consciousness. Cade's EEG-monitored studies of how the mind works and how to alter and expand one's state of awareness through simple meditation and mind-mastery techniques continues to impact the lives of countless people. With the skills learned in this book, you can find peace, wisdom, insights and untapped creativity and intuition in the subconscious and unconscious levels of your mind. This powerful exploration of consciousness is without compare, as it explains how to tap into the vast storehouse of ideals and images within you. It includes exercises, guided meditations and still-valid research on altered states and healing. --Judith Pennington
