Old Turtle and his animal friends relate their favorite animal riddles.

Grade 1-4 Old Turtle is compiling a riddle book, which serves as a convenient excuse for all of his friends to tell him their favorites. Ranging from the most agonizing of old groaners ("What happens when ducks fly upside down? They quack up") to the relatively bearable ("What do you call a tiny goat? A peanut butter!"), the riddles will make this a sure-fire attraction in spite of its hodge-podge format. The jokes veer from being integrated into the story to appearing as abrupt block sections of riddles from each animal friend. The slight pretext for the joke sessions won't bother young readers; they'll devour the wordplay, enjoy the riddle-fol- lowed-by-a-box-with-the-upside-down- answer-and-a-cartoon-illustration-for- mat and snort over the additional cracks made by a pair of birds at the bottom of each page. The varied joke selection and easy-reading layout make this unique enough to warrant a goprepare yourself.
