From School Library Journal:
Grade 4-6 A light, entertaining mystery that both boys and girls will enjoy, although, unfortunately, the mystery element of the story is the weakest part of the book. Twelve-year-old Jessie moves with her mother and new stepfather from Toronto to a condominium complex in Florida that doesn't allow pets. Determined not to leave her cat Simba behind, Jessie smuggles the cat to Florida and hides her in her bedroom. While Jessie is making new friends and trying to come up with a plan that will allow her to keep her pet, a cat burglar is robbing apartments in Jessie's building. Jessie and her new friend Carlos, with the help of a boy who is extremely allergic to cats, inadvertently solve the mystery of the cat burglar while tracking down the missing Simba. The "cat burglar" is revealed early in the book to be a husband and wife team who openly visit their future victims the night they plan to rob them. After a number of robberies, this couple is never even questioned by the police. This flaw aside, however, readers will be diverted by the humor and interested in learning how Jessie manages to keep her pet. Elizabeth Mellett, Brookline Public Library, Mass.
