About the Author
Editor Michael W. Fox, a veterinarian and ethologist, was born and educated in England. He received his D.Sc. and Ph.D. from London University. He is the author of more than 30 books on animal behavior, training, and health. Contributors to this volume included many distinguished scientists who specialize in behavioral psychology, ecology, genetics, and animal and human sociology.

Michael Fox s The Wild Canids is a book with a very special place on my bookshelves. I got it in 1984, sent to me personally by Dr Fox. I wanted that book desperately, I couldn t get it, and I took courage to write to Dr. Fox and ask for it. He sent it to me free and with a letter of encouragement, which went right to the heart of the young biologist I was at the time.
