Revised edition. Originally translated from 1963 German ed. From 1919 to 1923, the artist and art educator J. Itten taught the "Basic Course" at the Bauhaus. Goals of the course were to "free the creative powers and therefore the art talents of the students," to help students find the career appropriate for them, & to "convey to the students the fundamental principles of design" p.9 .
