Molecular imaging technologies, such as positron emission tomography (PET), have enabled us, at the molecular level, to map and measure the physiological and biochemical processes. In 2002, a PET symposium held and the proceedings published entitled "Positron Emission Tomography in the Millennium". However rapid progress has been made in the fields. In view of this a similar meeting was organized in order to discuss the recent progress and future perspectives in molecular imaging and its clinical application. This symposium covered the molecular imaging in neurology, cardiology, and oncology, as well as instrumentation/data analysis and molecular probes for molecular imaging.
