The Keanes lived in Arizona where, Bil claimed the warm desert air dries the ink quickly allowing him to mail his cartoons to the syndicate immediately and get back on the tennis court. William Aloysius "Bil" Keane (1922?2011) was an American cartoonist most notable for his work on the newspaper comic The Family Circus.
