"An impressive array of selections. They show common ethics that transcend the narrow confines of sectarianism."
ATLANTA JOURNAL & CONSTITUTION
Beneath the seeming differences of all the world's great religions, lies a pool of universal truth. ONENESS collects these beliefs together for the first time, in the actual words of each religion's scriptures. These universal principles act as a guide to inner development, and allow each individual to achieve spiritual richness.

Author's note: The most recent edition of Oneness, published in 2002 in softcover and 2007 in the Kindle edition, contains more than twice as many principles and sayings as previous editions. Also, the recent edition is fully annotated, providing the source of each scriptural saying in the book. Many readers and reviewers have been asking for this.
The Library Review article on this page, which mentions the lack of annotations, pertains to one of the earliest editions of Oneness, published in 1989-90.
In the reviews of Oneness above, you'll notice a comment made by Mother Teresa about the book. In a private conversation between us, she said: "I pray that this book accomplishes what God wants it to." While this may sound a bit vague, what she meant by this, she explained, is that God has a special purpose for every action. People's individual desires and egos, however, often distort this. Her prayer meant that she hoped people would not thwart or alter God's intention for the message of Oneness.
This book was written simply, not to argue that all religions are the same, but to show that the great scriptural principles we all associate with spirituality are expressed very similarly--and in some cases almost word-for-word--in all religions. The book was designed so a simple glance at any of the pages would give the message that the underlying similarities of the world's religions are unifying. They have the overwhelming effect of creating "Oneness," in which differences dissolve and the soul can wonder, Why do we have such conflicts?
“As this book shows . . . every major religion of the world has similar ideas of love [and] the same goal of benefiting humanity through spiritual practice.”
—The Dalai Lama
