The opening scene has our mouseburger heroine trudging up the "Psycho-Path" to the college mental health center after a suicide attempt. This low point leads to steady growthassertiveness, a makeover, a boyfriend, improved grades, a social life. Characterizations are sketchy, and the plot sometimes runs into dead ends, but the speed is breakneck, the wit frequently funny, and in the main, Time Out is an enjoyable story.
