About the Author
Bestselling author Dr. Harriet B. Braiker has been a practicing clinical psychologist and management consultant in Los Angeles for more than 25 years. A much in-demand public speaker, she is the author of several highly successful popular psychology books, including The New York Times' Bestseller, The Disease To Please: Curing the People-Pleasing Syndrome (www.diseasetoplease.com). She is an award-winning writer who has also been a contributing editor and columnist for Working Woman and Lear's, and has also written for many other national women's magazines. Dr. Braiker has appeared many times on such shows as Oprah, The Today Show, Larry King, Live With Regis and Kathy Lee, the NBC News with Tom Brokaw, CNN, and many more.

The author, a psychotherapist specializing in stress management programs for corporate women, identifies the Everything to Everybody syndrome, a syndrome experienced by today's high-achieving woman who suffers stress while trying to excel in both personal life and career. Braiker compares this syndrome to Type A behavior in men. After presenting a self-test that helps readers determine whether they suffer from this syndrome, she goes on to describe some of the false premises that contribute to its development, e.g., denying dependency needs in personal relationships because of the need for self-reliance on the job.
