Determined to regain the family estate his father was cheated out of, Lord Glenraven returns to Ravencroft disguised as a servant in search of the proof he needs to claim his inheritance. He is confronted, however, with an unexpected problem-the lovely Widow Carstairs, the current owner of the house. The solution, of course, is apparent to the reader; but, as is the case in most Regencies, it is the charmingly witty road to the happy ending that keeps readers entranced. Barbour (A Talent for Trouble, Dutton, 1992) is the winner of Romance Writers of America's 1991 Golden Heart Award and the Romantic Times's 1993 Best New Regency Author Award.
