About the Author

Sam McCarver, a lifelong history and mystery buff, was drawn irresistibly into the mystery field years ago reading Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories and the great mysteries of Agatha Christie, especially those of Hercule Poirot. Now McCarver's own John Darnell novels are set in the early years of the 20th century when, in London, Sherlock Holmes himself could have been walking the streets, with Poirot soon to follow. McCarver has written newspaper columns and articles on the art and craft of writing, has won awards such as in the International Imitation Raymond Chandler Writing Competition, and teaches "Writing Mystery and Suspense Novels" at a local university.
