Synopsis

A tart new comedy of love and murder from the national bestselling author of Just Peachy

The man is Class A: When Gretchen Darrow awoke to a fi re in her New York City apartment, she also woke to firefighter Rick Pallucci-so cocky, so intimidating with his ice-blue eyes, and so...built. The heat is Code 4: A weaker woman might have come unglued, but not Gretchen. This California chef moved east for one reason-a plum job at The Cooking Channel, and she's not letting anything distract her ever again. Or so she thinks...

The suspect is Prime: Who knew Gretchen's new job would yield so many backstabbers, jaded divas, and one fresh corpse? The only person she has on her side is a certain sexy lug-and cracking this case is going to set off enough sparks between them to set the whole town on fire.

Reviews

Winters' scintillating new novel opens with a fire as Gretchen Darrow is shocked to wake up to the smell of smoke in the New York City apartment she shares with her cousin. Rick Pellucci, the handsome fireman who responds to the call, doesn't even give Gretchen a chance to explain before he starts lecturing her. The two argue, despite an instant mutual attraction. Gretchen is surprised when she again encounters Rick, this time on the first day of her new job as the set supervisor at The Cooking Channel. Rick's brother, Brett, is TCC's most famous chef, and Rick and Gretchen clash again when he thinks she is interested in Brett. Complicating matters further is the fact that Brett has been receiving death threats and has asked Rick to help him find the source. When Brett's publicist ends up dead, Rick realizes he might need Gretchen's help to ferret out the killer. The chemistry between Rick and Gretchen is powerful, making this a fun, steamy read.
