Shane Garrett meets army doctor Captain Kirby Campbell in Iraq while she is plucking shrapnel from his posterior. The two engage in an intense affair until his Special Forces mission separates them. Later they reconnect when Kirby is a civilian serving in Pakistan and she saves Shane’s life, although he loses a leg and all desire to continue their relationship. Once he fully recuperates with his technologically enhanced new leg, his thoughts turn to Kirby, who has been kidnapped by rebel forces. Shane joins retired buddies from Special Ops who have formed Phoenix Team, determined to rescue her.
