Synopsis
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. About the Author
Balzac was the nineteenth - century French author of La Comdie Humaine, a series of almost 100 novels and plays. He was one of the founders of French literary realism and is known for the complexity of his characters: he has been called the French Dickens. A brilliant writer, he had trouble succeeding in school and in the business world. He is famous for the intense focus of his work habits - he would rise at midnight and work for fifteen hours straight, often working on several different works at a time.
