In this melange of anecdote, reminiscence, and philosophy, Judge Wapner comes across as ebullient, compassionate, and somewhat vainglorious. Although he notes problems of the American judicial system, Wapner is an avid booster: "Law is fairness in action" is a typical comment. What most disturbs Wapner is Americans' increasing litigiousness, a trend he attributes to a breakdown of personal and community relationships.
