The diabolical literary voice of King is clearly and definitely brought to life in these four short stories. The readings by four different narrators make each cassette a unique listening experience. The sound effects and music add another dimension to the atmosphere created by each story. The mysterious blob in "The Raft," the road to paradise in "Mrs. Todd's Shortcut," the windup toy in "The Monkey," and the sick grandmother in "Gramma" are all illustrations of the horror that lurks in ordinary people or objects.
