The Science Of Thought; A System Of Logic by Charles Carroll Everett. Everett presents logic as the science of thought, analyzing thought as a reality and uniting its substance (being) with its form. He outlines a plan for a true system of logic: to examine thought's relations, to classify its forms, to examine its methods, and to determine its limits and scope, including actual philosophical problems. The book consists of Preface, Introduction, and three books: Abstract Material and Relations of Thought; Forms of Thought and Logical Forms; and The Problems and Limits of Thought. He develops a theory of the categories (positive, negative, organic), the logic of language, judgments, propositions, syllogisms, induction, analogy, and hypotheses. He also discusses the problems of truth, goodness, beauty, and the limits of reason, science, and life. He draws on Hegel, Kant, and Schelling to advocate a framework where thought and being form a single rational whole. The work aims for a rigorous, comprehensive system of logic, while acknowledging the difficulties and dangers of over-formalization.
