Timoleon: A Dramatic Poem by James Rhoades. Timoleon: A Dramatic Poem traces the life of the ancient Sicilian and Corinthian leader Timoleon as rendered in dramatic blank verse. The poem follows his exile and moral struggles, his ascent to free Corinth and Syracuse from tyranny, and his governance, reform, and eventual retirement. Through a sequence of acts and choruses, the work blends historical narrative with lyrical meditation, introducing voices—the Chorus, Orthagoras, Aeschylus, the Furies, and the Spirit of Liberty—that wrestle with questions of power, virtue, civic duty, and the uses of liberty.
