Evidence Of Christianity, Derived From Its Nature And Reception by John Bird Sumner. This work, in a new edition revised to meet recent objections, defends the Christian faith by arguing that its truth lies in the internal nature of the Gospel, its consistency with Jewish history and Scripture, and the corroborating testimony of its early reception. Sumner surveys origin, opposition by Jews, originality of doctrines, the phrasing of Christian scriptures, and the alignment of Christian experience with prophecy and miracle.
