De La Liberté, Ou, Résumé De L'histoire Des Républiques by Augustin François Creuzé De Lesser. This book is a sweeping political treatise that surveys the notion of liberty across civilizations and argues that true freedom rests more with civil liberty—the protection of person and property—than with political liberty that empowers citizens against rulers.
