The Code Of Canons. The Code Of Canons is a historical legal code drawn up by the Episcopal Church in Scotland, formalizing governance, discipline, and liturgical practice for the church in that country. Drafted by an ecclesiastical synod at Aberdeen, it was adopted in June 1811 and lays out the framework for episcopal succession, the election of a primus, the regulation of districts, and the conduct of clerical life and worship. The work comprises Canon I through XXVI, with an Appendix of forms for holy orders, subscriptions, presentations, and institutions. It details requirements for ordination, residence, sobriety, clerical education, catechesis, baptism, confirmation, matrimony, and the visitation of the sick and burial of the dead, and it prescribes measures for discipline and accountability within the church.
