Judd Marmor (1910-2003) was Franz Alexander Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He was author or editor of seven books in the field and was past president of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Psychoanalysis.
"I enjoyed [Modern Psychoanalysis] in 1968, and I enjoyed rereading it now. . . . Anyone interested in the status of psychoanalysis and psychiatry . . . will enjoy it, and anyone interested in what those in positions of authority and who were not part of the orthodoxy in those days had to say will find these well-written papers valuable."
—Richard D. Chessick, American Journal of Psychiatry
