About the Author
A.W. Joshi is a professor of physics at the University of Poona. He received his Ph.D from the same university in 1967, for which he worked at the National Chemical Laboratory in Pune. He then worked at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, H H Wills Physics Laboratory, University of Bristol, UK, Meerut University, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and moved to University of Poona in 1984. He has published about 100 popular, semipopular, research, educational and social articles in newspapers, magazines and journals, including popular science articles in Indian languages. He has written two other books and edited one.
