About the Author

Dr. Zerong Wang was born in Pi County, Sichuan Province, in 1968 and graduated from the No.2 Middle School of Pi County in 1985. He entered the chemistry Department at Lanzhou University, Gansu Province, and received his BS degree in Chemistry in 1989. Subsequently, he pursued his PhD. at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science, and graduated in 1995. He did his first postdoctoral study at the Department of Chemistry, the University of California at Berkeley from 1996 to 1999, studying enolate chemistry. His second postdoctoral study accomplished at York University (Canada) was on the synthesis of nucleosides analogues. he then worked at the Institute for Biological Sciences, National Research Council of Canada, as an assistant research officer studying carbohydrate chemistry until 2002, and thereafter he joined the University of Houston-Clear Lake as a tenure-track assistant professor. He was promoted to associate professor in 2008. His personal research interests include photochemistry, nucleosides, heterocycles, computational chemistry, and material science.
