Synopsis
Leading scientists evaluate the current status of the neuropharmacology of nimodipine and discuss new directions for preclinical research that should broaden views on nimodipine's action mechanism as well as create the basis of present and future applications in neurology and psychiatry. The book is divided into three sections: the first discusses calcium channels and their modulators; two following sections deal with the effects of nimodipine on neural plasticity and the neuroprotective effects of the drug in brain ischemia.
