About the Author
GLENN T. SEABORG, PhD, was a Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, and cofounder and chairman of the Lawrence Hall of Science. He is credited with discovering ten new elements, including plutonium and one that now bears his name, seaborgium. In 1951, Dr. Seaborg and his colleague Edwin McMillan were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for research into transuranium elements.
WALTER LOVELAND, PhD, is a Professor of Chemistry at Oregon State University. In 2003, Loveland and his colleagues experimentally confirmed the discovery of element 110. In 2014, he received the Glenn T. Seaborg Award of the American Chemical Society.

This book was signed by Seaborg and Ghiorso in person at the The Welch Foundation Conference on Chemical Research on October 23, 1990 in Houston, Texas. The theme of that year's conference was Fifty Years with Transuranium Elements. The 27 page official Program of the Conference is included with this book. Also included is a 1999 magazine obituary of Seaborg as well as a handwritten note by the previous owner of the book who attended the Conference and watched Seaborg and Ghoirso sign the book. Seaborg won the Noble Prize in Chemistry and discovered 10 transuranium elements. Ghiorso was a nuclear scientist who co-discovered 12 elements. Together they helped re-write the Periodic Table. Small label on first free endpaper indicating this book was a gift from the Welch Foundation. No previous owner marks - book is clean and bright. Dust jacket is clean and bright.
