Synopsis

Presents and analyzes the concept of using massic vectors to control rational curves and surfaces. A massic vector is a weighted point or a vector in the space in which a curve or surface, determined via Bernstein polynomials, is embedded. Surprisingly well written for a scholarly work. The appendices describe eight BASIC and Pascal programs that compute massic vectors. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.

From the Publisher

Devoted to the control of all rational curves and surfaces in view of their applications to computer science, CAD, CAGD and CAM. Introduces and analyzes the new concept of massic vectors to dominate all rational curves and surfaces, including Bezier curves and surfaces. The algorithmic and geometrical aspects are examined and methods for determining massic polygons and nets, especially for conics and quadrics, are developed. Contains numerous examples of constructing and displaying these curves.
