A systematic treatment and critical evaluation of current methods to characterize the heterogeneity of polymer materials--filled polymers, polymer blends and copolymers--on diverse structural scales. Analyzes the composition dependence of heat conductivity and thermoelastic parameters of different polymer substances. Develops the Step-by-Step Averaging approach which explicitly accounts for the percolation phenomenon and boundary interphase formation proven to provide the best fit to experimental data.
