After two years of hiding from the Germans in a secret annexe in Amsterdam eloping sexuality, Anne and her family were discovered and deported to Westerbork Camp (in the Netherlands) and Auschwitz (in Poland). Anne died of typhus when15 years old, in Bergen-Belsen Camp. The two years of diary entries give an intimate account of Anne's hopes, fears, relationships, developing sexuality, blossoming young love, intellectual maturing and sense of Jewish identity.
