Synopsis

From the ancient Spanish ballad "Roman Castillo" to "La Paloma," "El Choclo," "La Cumparista," and other tango tunes, this beginner's compilation abounds in zesty, traditional music. More than two dozen simplified renditions of beloved songs also include "La Cintura," an Ecuadorian folksong; the ever-popular "La Cucaracha"; the Mexican hat dance; and songs such as "La Golondrina," "Cielito Lindo," and "Las Mañanitas." Selections range from all around the Latin countries of the New World, from Peru's "Llanto del Indio" and Brazil's "Tico-Tico" and "La Nau Catarineta" to the popular Argentine melody, "Subo, Subo."
All of the selections are specially arranged so that beginning pianists of all ages can find the rewards and satisfaction of being able to play popular music. In addition, free downloadable MP3s of each piece will help familiarize players with the music.
