In the Fourth Edition of his best-selling text, Forsyth combines an emphasis on research, empirical studies supporting theoretical understanding of groups, and case studies to illustrate the application of concepts to actual groups thus providing students with the most comprehensive treatment of groups available. Forsyth builds each chapter around a real-life case and draws on examples from a range of disciplines including psychology, law, education, sociology, and political science. Because he tightly weaves concepts and familiar ideas together, the text takes students beyond simple exposure to basic principles and research findings to a deeper understanding of each topic.

"The previous editions have always been excellent, and what I have seen of the current revision is even better. It is comprehensive, up to date, and accurate. It provides a broad perspective on the field. It is well grounded in science and that comes through clearly. But it clearly shows the essence of the findings and their utility. The writing is wonderful; in fact, this edition seems even more readable than previous editions. . . . This is an impressive book."
"There is virtually no other book that covers the basic research in Group Dynamics as successfully as this one does. It is readable and does a good job of relating research to the lives of students."
"Forsyth's GROUP DYNAMICS is an excellent book. What I like is its thorough, scholarly coverage of group theory and research from a social psychological viewpoint. . . It is well written and up-to-date with a good set of references."
