About the Author:
John S. Klemanski, Professor and Chair of the Political Science department at Oakland University, received his B.A. from the University of Michigan and an M.P.A. and Ph.D. from Wayne State University. A native of Michigan, he has served as a campaign manager, campaign consultant, and volunteer on numerous state legislative, judicial, and local political campaigns. He has worked as an on-air politics and feature reporter for a Michigan cable TV station and has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, as well as local government commissions and authorities. In 1989-90, he received a Leverhulme Fellowship award to serve as graduate program adviser to Cranfield University, located in Bedfordshire, England. He is the author of over 20 articles and books, mostly on urban development politics and policy.
