Linda Chase's interior design work includes residential and commercial projects throughout the United States and Europe. Laura Cerwinske writes, edits, and produces books on architecture, interior design, and the fine and decorative arts, and is the author of, among other books, In A Spiritual Style (Thames and Hudson). David Phelps is an internationally known photographer of architecture and interiors whose work appears in numerous design and style books as well as in magazines.
Coauthored by two experts in the field (see, for instance, In the Romantic Style: Creating Intimacy, LJ 11/15/90), this enjoyable book helps do-it-yourself decorators define their own style and take steps toward attaining it. The authors cover the treatment of floors, walls, ceilings, hardware, lighting, color, furniture arrangement, and windows, among other topics. Excellent color photographs enhance this text. Classical and modern styles of decorating are addressed but not country, which is covered in such books as Miranda Innes's The Country Home Book (LJ 2/15/90) and Judith Miller and Martin Miller's International Country (LJ 2/15/90). Recommended for public libraries.
