Eighty of Hodgkin's best works, dating from 1980 to 1995, are lovingly reproduced in full color. This book is the catalogue of the most important exhibition of Hodgkin's work in at least ten years, and traces his early development to his current position as one of the leading painters of the postwar generation. Completing the volume is a full catalogue raisonne of all of Hodgkin's oil paintings (complete to 1995), as well as a penetrating essay about the artist and contemporary art by Susan Sontag.
