From a guardian angel governess to a pair of heavenly novices, angels of all types influence the plots of this nicely put together quartet of Christmas novellas featuring settings that range from a 19th-century English estate to a trendy boutique in contemporary Seattle. The relationship between the hero and heroine combust in Debra Dier's humorous "The Trouble with Hannah." Trana Mae Simmons's "Chrissy's Wish," a moving tale of the Old West, features a well-matched hero and heroine and a little girl who is almost too good to be true. And Amy Elizabeth Saunders's "A Time for Joy," one of the more unusual stories, has a marvelous, and particularly memorable, frumpy guardian angel. Although quality, style, and sensuality levels all vary, the focus is definitely on family and love.
