Synopsis
wartime intrigue from the author of The Ritter Double Cross and The Algonquin Project. British intelligence agent Sanderson, who spent five years in Sechsenhausen concentration camp, seeks ""a settlement, a revenge, a sort of justice"" vis a vis Helmut Wolff, the SS colonel responsible for his ordeal. Wolff had been nearly iced on the Russian front but he surfaces again in postwar Germany with a scheme to recover a small part of the Reichsbank treasure--ten tons of gold--with the aid of the US military governor of Garmisch. Now try and figure out the connection between a certain Italian mafioso and the Mittenwald syndicate. Better yet, don't bother.
